Funeral Today for Ted Blowes

Stratford will say goodbye to its favourite son today.

Former mayor and tireless volunteer Ted Blowes died last week.

His funeral is set for noon today at Central United Church followed by a reception at the Stratford Legion.

All are welcome to attend both events.

Great Canadian Infrastructure Challenge at Stratford VIA Rail

The local campaign to 'Save VIA' has organized its next meeting.

The Great Canadian Infrastructure Challenge fuses our nation's past with its future and will take place at the VIA Rail station in Stratford on Friday, May 24th from Noon until 1:00pm.

The meeting will discuss the role the railway played in the formation of Canada and the need for governments at all levels to reinvest in infrastructure to ensure continued growth.

However, representatives the Stratford Campus of the University of Waterloo will also discuss the importance of both physical and digital infrastructure.

All local residents are invited to attend this event.

Over 20,000 municipal leaders across Canada are part of The Great Canadian Infrastructure Challenge.

Blue Rodeo Concert Postponed Again

Blue Rodeo won't be in Stratford this weekend.

Citing "promoter issues" Blue Rodeo has announced the show at the R.J. Burnside Agriplex on Sunday will now be happening on June 21st at the William Allman Arena during the Stratford Blues and Ribfest.

This is the second time the fundraiser for the Stratford Cash for Splash Campaign has been postponed.

All current ticket holders will be honoured, while the $30 dinner ticket will be refunded at place of purchase.

You can exchange tickets already purchased for a new ticket at your place of purchase after May 24th.

Private Gardens Opening to Public Tours

Garden lovers will have a rare treat this summer.

Over 20 private gardens in Perth and Huron will be opened up to public tours.

The touring program starts on June 1st and runs until August.

The Pergola Garden in Stratford and both the St. Marys Horticultural Society Garden and their Peace Garden are included in the tour.

Stratford Festival Sets Pinball Record

The Stratford Festival is a new world record holder.

Phillip Robertson is an adjudicator with Guinness World Records.

He has the good news:

The event was being held as a promotion for the Stratford Festival's upcoming production of "Tommy".

Ann Swerdfager is with the Festival, and she expects big things from "Tommy":

'Tommy' is now in previews at the Festival's Avon Theatre and opens May 30th.  It runs until October 19th.
