A quick note for local motorists:

Perth Road 131 at line 61 is reopened to traffic.

It was closed most of yesterday due to a chemical spill caused by a motor vehicle collision.

The Avon Maitland District School Board has been notified by the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario that the Board is one of two Boards in the province targeted for teacher protests on Monday, December 10, 2012.  

This will be the first day-long strikes by Ontario's elementary teachers.  

All Avon Maitland Elementary Schools will be closed to students on Monday.

The Perth County OPP have laid charges in the wake of the tragic shooting in Milverton last night.

23-year-old Michael Schweitzer of Milverton has been charged with first degree murder and attempted murder.  Schweitzer appeared in Stratford Provincial Court today to answer to the charges. 

The case was remanded until December 7th.

The victims of this tragedy have been identified as 17-year-old Nicole Wagler of Milverton.  

Nicole succumbed to her injuries at the scene. 

The second victim has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Baker, also of Milverton.  He was rushed to London Health Sciences hospital where he remains in critical condition.  

Members of the investigative team remain on scene and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

A serious accident involving multiple vehicles has caused a chemical spill and has closed Perth Road 131, just south of Milverton near Line 61.

Barricades are set up at Line 59 and at the town limits. 

You're asked to avoid this area completely, please adjust your driving habits accordingly.
