Woodstock Teen Arrested in Cocaine Trafficking Investigation

A Woodstock teenager is facing a list of drug-related charges.

Police arrested the 16-year-old girl yesterday after an investigation into cocaine trafficking in the city

She's been charged with one count of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 4 counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, 4 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

The investigation also resulted in the seizure of money, crack cocaine, and hydromorphone with a street value of approximately $2000.00.

Pettapiece to Host Food Roundtable Discussion

Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece is hosting a roundtable discussion on local food.

Pettapiece will be focusing on the Progressive Conservative policy white paper on agriculture called Paths to Prosperity: Respect for Rural Ontario and the Ontario government's Local Food Act.

The roundtable is taking place on Tuesday May 21st at the Local Community Food Centre.

Road Closure Starting Today

If you're on the roads today, take note.

Highway 7 will be partially closed from half a kilometre west of Wellburn Road to Oxford Road 119/Perth Road 118 starting today until May 19th for construction. 

One lane will remain open to traffic at all times.

Sections of Line 26 between Road 180 and Road 181 will be closed starting on May 21st.

The closure will last approximately five weeks to accommodate culvert repairs.

Funeral for Ted Blowes on Friday

The City of Stratford lost one of its biggest boosters over the weekend.

Former mayor, teacher and tireless volunteer Ted Blowes died on Saturday.

He had been in hospital last week for heart surgery.

A visitation will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home this Wednesday from 7:00pm-9:00pm and Thursday from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm for family and friends.

The funeral will be held on Friday at Noon at Central United Church in Stratford.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ted's memory to Communities in Bloom Foundation, Community Living Stratford and Area, St John's Ambulance, and the Stratford General Hospital.

Ted Blowes was 76-years-old.
