CJCS/Kiwanis Christmas Baskets Still Need Donations

E-mail Print PDF

The CJCS/Kiwanis Christmas Baskets are just about ready to roll.

Nearly 700 massive hampers will be assembled at the Stratford Agriplex and delivered tomorrow to needy families in the city.

However, more funds are still needed to cover the costs and donations will gladly be accepted.

Kiwanian Dave Evans outlines what's in every Christmas basket.

An account has been set up at Your Neighbourhood Credit Union in Stratford.

People can go to 1067 Ontario Street to make a deposit towards the basket fund even after Christmas.

Evans says residents can also help with the assembly and distribution of the baskets tomorrow morning from 9:00am to 10:00am.

For more details, go to the Stratford Kiwanis Club website.

The Salvation Army is gearing up for one final blitz this weekend.

The group has waged war on poverty in Stratford for 128 years.

The battle continues this festive season with their annual Kettle Drive and this is the last weekend before Christmas for people to toss some loose change into the collection buckets.

Scotiabank will reinforce the Salvation Army in Stratford this weekend.

Staff from the local branches will be at all 45 stations in the city and the bank will be matching donations.

Captain Jason Sabourin says they need the help of local residents in the final push leading up to Christmas.

Donation stations are set up all over Stratford but the fundraising drive is behind this year.

The Stratford Salvation Army's goal this year is to raise $90,000 to help the poor in our community.
