The Northwestern boys hockey team finished the regular season this week with a 5-5 tie versus Listowel. After an early goal by Listowel the Huskies replied with 2 goals in 30 seconds. Nick Castell scored, assisted from Greg Hansford and Quinten Haddock, followed shortly after by a tally from Hansford, assisted by Castell and Meyer. Early in the game goalie Ethan Hinz made several big saves to stymie Listowel and keep the game close. An excellent solo effort by Travis Bowman on a shorthanded goal in the second period. The future 4 Wheel Drive line of Bowman, Sam Campbell and Mitch Boertien scored again before the end of the 2nd, giving the Huskies a 4-3 lead heading into the third. The 3rd period was wide open, and back and forth. Hansford scored his 2nd of the game to tie the game at 5 late in the period. Despite several great scoring opportunities the team was unable to get the winner. After a mid season losing skid, the Huskies have been playing their best hockey in 2012 as they gear up for the 1/4 finals next week versus Central Huron.
