On Saturday April 27th, Cael Wishart of Stratford Central and Mark Schmidt of Stratford Northwestern competed in the prestigious John Rowland Memorial Games held in Etobicoke.
The highly competitive meet featured many of the top runners from across the province as runners applied to be selected to compete in their respective events.
Wishart and Schmidt both ran personal bests in the Sr. Boys 3000 metre run.
Wishart ran an impressive 9:01 minutes placing 10th, Schmidt placed 17'th running a personal
best and Stratford Northwestern record 9:11 minutes.
Also on Saturday April 27th, five Northwestern track and Field athletes competed in the Forrest City Prep at The University of Western Ontario in London.
Results include: Taylor Broughton - 4th in Midget Girls Discus - 19.53m, 6th in Midget Girls Shot-Put - 6.77m, 9th in Midget Girls Javelin - 14.55m
Andrew Taphorn - 3rd in Junior Boys Discus 43.71m (personal best and Northwestern record - previous record Justin Kunder 39.87m) 4th in Junior boys Shot-Put 13.89m (personal best)
Brett Jutzi - 2nd in Senior Girls Discus - 33.95m, 4th in Senior Girls Shot-Put 9.70m
Andrew Dunsmore- 3rd in Junior Boys Pole Vault - 2.60m
Miriam VanMeurs - 10th in Senior Girls 1500m - 5:30.03 (personal best and Northwestern record)
The Stratford Northwestern Huskies and Stratford Central Rams are in action next at The Holy Cross Track and Field meet in Strathroy on Wednesday May 1st.
