OPP Release Distracted Driving Campaign Results

E-mail Print PDF

The Perth County OPP has released the results of the Distracted Driving Campaign.

Texting, handling electronic devices, eating and drinking, personal grooming and tending to children in the backseat are just a few things that cause distractions.

For one week, starting on April 15th, police cracked down on drivers not paying attention to what they were doing.

Over that week police handed out 38 tickets, each for $155, to distracted drivers.

Four people were charged with "having a display screen visible to the driver".  All the other tickets issued were for "driving with hand-held communication device".

As an ongoing effort to save lives on Ontario roads, the Perth County OPP will continue to enforce laws related to distracted driving throughout the year.

Pettapiece Weighs In on Non-Confidence Motion

E-mail Print PDF

Ontario's Liberals will unveil a budget next Thursday, May 2nd.

But the Progessive Conservatives intend to move a motion of non-confidence in the minority government before then.

Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece says scandals are the reason for the motion:

Pettapiece went on to say Ontario voters are tired of backdoor deals.

The PCs are hoping the NDP will side with them on the non-confidence motion, citing that party's repeated condemnation of the government's decision to cancel plants in Mississauga and Oakville.

An auditor general's report last week showed the true cost of cancelling the gas plant in Mississauga was $85 million more than the Liberals claimed.
