When they run out, don't throw them out!
That's the message from the City of Stratford Energy and Environment committee about your old batteries. The committee wants to pass along the simple message that there are many places in the city that you can drop off the batteries. This includes:
City Annex – 82 Erie St., 3 rd Floor
Fire Hall, 388 Erie St and 44 McCarthy Road
Kiwanis Community Centre, 111 Lakeside Dr.
Stratford City Hall, 1 Wellington St.
Stratford Landfill, 777 Romeo St. S,
Stratford Public Library, 19 St. Andrew St.,
Stratford Public Works Dept., 303 King St.,
Stratford Rotary Complex, 353 McCarthy Rd.
Doug Pratley of the Energy and Environment committee says that only 5% of used batteries in Ontario are recycled. Meanwhile, in 2011 the City of Stratford recycled just over 2 tonnes of batteries through the household hazardous waste days and the many drop off locations throughout the city.
