It's a strange story that revolves around a "dead" Stratford woman who's actually alive.
CTV reports that the Canadian government considers Susan Campbell deceased as of two months ago, and she's dealing with the financial consequences.
Campbell, a single mother & leukemia patient, did not receive her monthly government cheques in December, so she called Revenue Canada. The agent then told her that she was marked as deceased, but it would be taken care of.
Since that encounter, Campbell has received letters asking to recoup money paid out since her "death," and notices that she is not entitled to GST or HST tax credit.
Government officials say mistakes happen, and Campbell's case may have slipped through the cracks.
