A careless driving charge has been laid after a crash that closed down Highway 8 for two hours Wednesday.

Police say they were called the highway east of Road 155 between Sebringville and Mitchell at about 4:30pm. Investigation indicated that a Toyota Venza, being driven west bound on Highway 8, crossed the centre line and entered onto the east bound lane.  The driver of an east bound tractor trailer observed the Toyota enter his lane.  He slowed down and drove his rig onto the south shoulder. The Toyota continued and struck the truck behind the cab. The impact resulted in large pieces of debris becoming airborne and striking a west bound SUV.

The 66 year-old female driver of the Toyota, a Municipality of West Perth resident was transported to Stratford General Hospital with minor injuries.  She has been charged with "careless driving." The truck driver, a 53 year-old male from North York did not sustain injuries.  The driver of the SUV was also uninjured.
