VIA Rail announced last week it was cutting Trains 86 and 89 that run between Stratford and Toronto.
The decision was in response to federal austerity.
A Facebook group was organized to save Via Train 86, the early morning ride to Toronto by pressuring VIA rail and the federal government to reverse the cuts. As of Tuesday, the Facebook group, Save Via Train 86 had over 270 members.
However, Perth-Wellington MP Gary Schellenberger says VIA runs at an arm's length from the government and local residents still have access to transportation.
Meanitime, VIA Rail has said that the cuts are necessary "to allow VIA to focus resources on improving service and attracting more customers on routes where demand is strong and growing."
