A four hour standoff ended peacefully in Stratford Tuesday night.
Police arrived at 241 Ontario Street in response to a male yelling obscenities from the upper window facing Ontario.
The 38 year-old was known to suffer from a mental illness. He could be heard yelling in his apartment threatening to kill people and himself.
The residence was contained awaiting the arrival of the Emergency Response Unit. Once on scene the ERU began negotiations with the distraught male, they entered the residence and apprehended him.
The male suffered minor cuts to his hands as a result of punching out the windows of his residence.
The entire standoff lasted approximately 4 hours. No other injuries were reported.
