Some Native groups aren't happy with Justin Bieber.
In an interview featured in the August edition of Rolling Stone magazine, Bieber makes the comment that he is quote "...actually part Indian. I think Inuit or something? I'm enough percent that in Canada I can get free gas."
Canada's Congress of Aboriginal Peoples says the comments are perpetuating the myth that Canada's natives are getting a quote "free ride".
National Chief of the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples Betty Ann Lavallee and vice-chief Dwight Dorey have issued a statement indicating that despite the negative effects of such comments, they do not believe the comments were made maliciously, but rather that Bieber is simply quote "unaware of the facts".
Ellen Gabriel, a human rights activist, is being less magnanimous. She's demanded via twitter that Justin Bieber apologize for promoting what she calls "racist stereotypes".
