Twelve years after it went missing, the plane of former Stratford resident Ernie Hesse may have finally been located. A representative of the Canadian Transportation Safety Board confirmed the discovery of a downed plane in the mountains of British Columbia.
There is no confirmation yet that the plane is indeed that of Mr. Hesse. Hesse and the plane disappeared on Sept. 9th, 2000.
A massive search was conducted at the time of the disappearance, but no trace of either the plane or the pilot could be found. The RCMP, British Columbia Search and Rescue, and the B.C. coroner have been dispatched to the discovery site in hopes of confirming the identity of the plane and any remains.
