After 12 years, some closure has come to a Stratford family.
On September 9th, 2000, local pilot Ernie Hesse's small airplane went missing in the mountains of British Columbia. Earlier this month a hiker came upon previously undiscovered plane wreckage, which has been confirmed as belonging to that of Mr. Hesse.
A massive search at the time of his disappearance failed to locate the plane. A forensic investigation of the crash site conducted by B.C. authorities positively identified Mr. Hesse through his belongings.
Details of a forthcoming memorial service will be released at a later date.
