Police Warn Local Residents of Door-to-Door Sales People

E-mail Print PDF

Stratford Police Service has received several complaints about door-to-door sale people. These sales people depend on high pressure and possibly misleading sales tactics to close a deal. The current complaints have come from sales people trying to rent hot water tanks to homeowners. Police would like to remind citizens to be aware of their rights as consumers when it comes to dealing with door-to-door salespeople. Consumer rights, such being able to cancel a contract after a 10-day cooling off period, are outlined on the Ministry of Consumer Services website. The Ministry of Consumer Services can be reached at www.ontario.ca/consumerservices or 1-800-889-9768
