Two Blood Donor Clinics Coming Up

Blood.

It quickly becomes a precious commodity during a crisis.

To stock up, the Canadian Blood Services has two blood donor clinics coming up over the next two weeks.

The Stratford Christian Reformed Church at 190 Athlone Crescent will host a clinic on Tuesday, May 28th from 1:30pm - 7:30pm.

On Monday, June 3rd, blood will be squeezed from the Stone Town.

The St. Marys Pyramid Recreation Centre will host a donor clinic from 4:00pm - 8:00pm.

New donors and walk-ins are always welcome.

New Funding for Accessibility

Stratford and Arthur have received an accessibility boost.

The Government of Canada announced grants for the two communities through the Enabling Accessibility Fund.

The Arthur Pentecostal Assembly will receive $22,500 to install a lift.

The Stratford Public Library is getting over $13,000 to lower counters allowing for better accessibility for its patrons.

Oakville Man Arrested in Bosma Case

Police have made a second arrest in the Tim Bosma case.

Mark Smich of Oakville will be officially charged with first degree murder tomorrow.

Bosma, who has connections to Clinton, went missing from his home on May 6th. Police confirmed they had found his burnt remains on a farm near Waterloo on May 14th.

 

Traffic Delays Reported Near St. Marys

A quick note for local motorists:

Highway 7 is closed from Oxford Road 119/Perth Road 118 to half-a-kilometer east of Perth Line 9 until May 24th.

This is to accommodate construction.

Reports to our station say traffic is backed up significantly in this area.

Please adjust your driving routes accordingly to avoid delays.

 

OPP Seizes Drugs at RIDE Stops

Three Scarborough men face charges after making a seemingly unwise decision.

At a R.I.D.E. check in St. Paul's Sunday afternoon OPP officers were asked by a driver for directions to Toronto.

During their conversation, an officer saw some marijuana inside the vehicle. 

After a search police also found some cocaine.

All three men have been charged with possession.

That same day police also seized marijuana from another vehicle in St. Pauls, which resulted in a possession charge, and from a vehicle at a R.I.D.E check in Listowel.

The two people at the Listowel checkpoint were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.
